James cruickshank-Owner/Head guide

I was born on a farm in the North Island of New Zealand and it is little wonder my earliest memories are of hunting, fishing, and exploring the outdoors. On finishing school I set out on the search for adventure, finding myself in Northern British Columbia about to start my career as a hunting guide. From there I went to Alberta with another outfitter before heading to Scotland to experience a different style of hunting.
When I returned to New Zealand I spent time at a large estate hunting operation and quickly decided it wasn’t the right direction for me. So I returned again to Canada to pursue my passion for guiding Stone Sheep and other North American species. The next time I was back in New Zealand it was with the vision to start my own outfit and find a place to incorporate the standard/style of hunting I had experienced internationally to New Zealand.
Now I’m lucky enough to continue my guiding internationally and showcase to hunters from around the world what New Zealand really has to offer as a hunting destination! Free range hunting in New Zealand is hard work and required a lot of travel as I looked for the best areas to guide my clients nation wide. My year starts guiding Sika, Red stag, Fallow, and Sambar in the central North Island before heading south to start my Tahr/Chamois season. By the time that's done I'm on a plane to Canada and that fills out my year nicely!
